Tim Gamache US Navy VFA Blacklions

Strap into the cockpit of F-14 Tomcats and F/A-18F Super Hornets with CDR Tim "Gooch" Gamache as he takes you airborne on flights in these two Navy Strike Fighters to show you how his experiences flying from US Navy aircraft carriers showed him the glory of our All-Powerful God and why every person needs a passionate relationship with Jesus Christ. Regardless of where you find yourself in life, the stories within these pages provide insights into the way to see God acting in your own life, the importance of surrendering your life to Jesus Christ, and the victorious life that awaits when you decide to make Jesus your Lord and Savior. Don your flight gear, preflight your jet, and get ready to launch into exhilarating stories and practical reasons why this is the most important decision you will ever make. If you are a type-A male, this is a must read for you!

After making the decision to put his eternal trust in Jesus Christ in 2012, Gooch could feel the Holy Spirit leading him to write a book that tied together his experiences flying in the Navy to his relationship with God. His motivation for the book was to convince other type-A men like himself of their need for saving faith in Christ. Many men, especially highly successful type-A men, believe they have no need for faith in Jesus Christ. Their perceived lack of need is derived from a life of self-reliance and self-sufficiency that has led to high levels of success. Unfortunately, for every person the thing in which they place their faith in this life will eventually fail them eternally.

Whether it is position, power, wealth, fame, or any other object in which we place our faith, nothing in this world will matter at all when we leave this life for our eternal destination. Pastor Gary Hamrick of Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg, VA captures Gooch’s opinion perfectly when he stated, “The decisions we make regarding our relationship with God are the only things we will do in this lifetime with eternal significance”. With a heart to reach men (and all others!), Gooch embarked on the journey that would produce, Top Gun for God – How My Years Flying United States Navy Fighters Opened My Eyes to See the Glory of God. It is Gooch’s sincere hope that everyone with an interest in aviation who is not in a relationship with Jesus Christ will read Top Gun for God and be inspired to put their trust in The One who is the only way, truth, and life, and will never fail them.

"If you think you have it all figured out in life, self made man, etc. Get.This.Book.Now!

I cannot overstate the impact of this book declaring the transformative power of the Gospel and I do so first hand. When you get to Chapter 12, I am "Guido" and yes it was a chore getting my Brother to come have breakfast and fellowship. I am so Thankful for the spirt of the Lord motivating me to perseverance and working in Gooch to join us that morning. I wish we still did those meetings, they are powerful.

Gooch and I have numerous entries together in our logbooks. We've raged through day missions, he has suffered night recoveries with me, and still talks to me. We've scrapped like Brothers, love each other even more like Brothers, and even dug a hole and filled it with concrete and a cedar tree like Brothers.

Does the Holy Spirit speak into our lives and motivate us to Bless others? Yes, absolutely, exactly as Gooch details adventurously in "Top Gun for God".

I was the guy he writes about. I had it all, business, money, awards, etc. this book thankfully blows up that myth. I wish I had this book in 2015 before the Lord took me into the wilderness to break me down and show me how much He loves me. Thankfully I had the author in my life listening to the Lord in 2017 when I was flat broke, not sure if/how rent was getting paid, ready to end it all, and sitting in a coffee shop in Roanoke TX Gooch handed me an envelope with money. Gooch said he was walking into Church and the Spirit told him don't bring an offering to the house. Bring it to his Brother. If you think you have it all or know it all, wait for the day you are broke and the Lord tells one of your peers to Bless you so you can go on living. That is the power Gooch details in "Top Gun for God".

This book is as real as it gets. The aviation stories are so vivid they will humble Stephen Coonts and in every case the evidence of grace in Gooch's life, in all our lives, is just as vivid."

" Absolutely LOVED this book. The author is able to write about his many exciting experiences during his time spent flying fighter jets for the US Navy in a way that that makes you feel as if you are there with him. He has a way of conveying God's amazing grace, goodness and beauty as he was able to see it while most of us never will. He shares his love for God and has great biblical references in his book. I also purchased several books as gifts for the young men in my family."

"As someone in naval aviation and military aviation in general, I often see myself surrounded by peers with high egos and lacking Christian values. This book was perfect for me. even if you’re not a fighter pilot or in the industry, it’s not complicated to understand the terms and you can learn a lot from it!!"
